Jonathan Gold Wins Pulitzer Prize

The first time a food critic has ever won a Pulitzer Prize

Jonathan Gold, the LA Weekly’s long-time food critic has won the Pulitzer Prize for criticism.

The Pulitzer citiation reads in part, “Awarded to Jonathan Gold of LA Weekly for his zestful, wide ranging restaurant reviews, expressing the delight of an erudite eater.”

This marks the first time a food critic has ever won a Pulitzer Prize and should fit nicely on top of the award pyramid the four-time James Beard winner (Gold was also a two-time finalist for the National Magazine Awards while with Gourmet) is amassing for his writing about food and restaurants.
